Welcome to KARMAR – Your Gateway to Sustainable Dining! At KARMAR, we are on a mission to revolutionize the dining experience by offering exquisite and eco-friendly dinnerware solutions. Our journey began with the vision of a young, energetic, and committed engineer turned entrepreneur who already boasts a wealth of experience in the export industry.
Our founder's passion for sustainability and their background in engineering and international trade set the stage for our unique venture. With years of experience in export, they recognized the growing demand for eco-friendly alternatives in the foodservice industry. This realization served as the catalyst for KARMAR.
At KARMAR, we're not just about providing products; we're about making a positive impact on our planet. Our dinnerware is crafted from 100% natural and biodegradable areca palm leaves. This ensures that every meal served on our plates and bowls is not only a treat for the taste buds but also a step towards a greener and more sustainable future.
Areca plates, also known as areca leaf plates or palm leaf plates, are eco-friendly and biodegradable disposable plates made from the fallen leaves of the areca palm tree. They are commonly used in various parts of the world for serving food, especially in eco-conscious and sustainable dining establishments. Here's a step-by-step explanation of how areca plates are manufactured:
The process begins with the collection of fallen or naturally shed areca palm leaves. These leaves are typically broad and sturdy.
The collected leaves are thoroughly cleaned to remove any dirt, debris, or impurities. This is usually done by washing the leaves with clean water.
After cleaning, the leaves are left out to dry in the sun. Drying helps to remove moisture from the leaves, making them more pliable for the next steps of the process.
Once the leaves are sufficiently dried, they are sorted based on their size and quality. These sorted leaves are then placed between two metal plates or molds in the desired shape and size of the final plate.
The two metal plates with the leaves between them are subjected to heat and pressure. This process helps in compressing and shaping the leaves into the desired plate form.
After compression, the excess edges and irregularities are trimmed to give the plates a neat and uniform appearance. This step ensures that the plates have a clean, finished look.
The manufactured areca plates undergo a quality control check to ensure they meet the desired standards. Plates that don't meet the quality criteria may be rejected.
Once the areca plates pass the quality check, they are packaged in stacks or bundles. They may be bundled together with twine or packed in boxes for distribution.
The areca plates are then distributed to various markets and consumers where they can be used as eco-friendly, disposable serving plates.
The entire manufacturing process is relatively simple and eco-friendly, as it requires minimal energy and does not involve the use of chemicals or additives. Areca plates are considered a sustainable and biodegradable alternative to conventional disposable plates, as they naturally decompose when discarded, reducing the environmental impact of single-use tableware.
